MultiPlayer Games

Solar Vengeance can be played in MultiPlayer mode with other Star Lords over the internet.  To connect, click the "PrismServer Login" button.  You will be asked to enter your login credentials, or to create a new user if it's the first time you've connected.  In the login screen, you can also select the PrismServer game server to connect to.  A list of available active servers is maintained there:

Once you have entered the PrismServer Lobby, you can create a New Game where you specify the number of players.  Or, you can join a game that someone else has created.  Once the required number of players has joined the game, it will commence.

Approved Scenarios

PrismServer maintains a list of approved Scenarios for MultiPlayer games.  The source code for the approved Scenarios is sent to the game clients by the server, and the local source code version is not used.  This security measure removes the possibility of someone modifying the Scenario code to gain an unfair advantage in the game, or worse, to inject malicious code into unsuspecting opponents.

It is also possible to play MultiPlayer games with non-approved Scenarios.  Players joining such a game are provided a warning that they must accept in order to join the game.  Only join such a game hosted by someone you trust!

Approved Brains

PrismServer also maintains approved Brains, which are computer AI opponents.  You can include Brains in MultiPlayer games, but are restricted to using only the approved Brains available from the PrismServer.

Star Lord Rankings

Star Lords are rated and ranked as they complete MultiPlayer games.  You gain points as you defeat other Star Lords, and lose points when you are defeated.  Try to beat Star Lords with a higher rating than you to gain more points.  Games where you defeat only Brain opponents are not considered for ranking adjustment.  Visit the Silicon Commander Games web site to view the current Star Lord Rankings.

MultiPlayer Game Log

MultiPlayer games are logged by PrismServer.  Visit the Silicon Commander Games web site to see the MultiPlayer Game Log.

Brain Rankings

A Brain is a computer AI opponent.  Solar Vengeance 5 comes with a number of Brains, but programmers can develop their own and submit them for inclusion in the approved Brain list.  Brains are .NET classes that descend from a common base class (Brain), and are programmed in the C# language.

Click the "Brain Duel" button in the PrismServer Lobby to run a Brain Duel.  This sets up a series of matches that pit each approved Brain against the other, one by one.  Brain Duels are run in the MirrorImage Scenario, which sets up a fair and equal playing field.

You will not see the actual duel progress on the map, but the matches instead run through very quickly.  At the end of the matches, the results are submitted to Silicon Commander Games, and then displayed to you.

These results help build up our Brain Rankings page, which is available from the Silicon Commander Games web site.  This Ranking helps players determine which Brains are strongest.

Hosting a PrismServer

Silicon Commander Games offers its PrismServer as open-source freeware so you can host your own server.  Visit the List of Active PrismServers page for details.
