Solar Vengeance Strategies: Bunker Defense

This defensive strategy can hold off an enemy attack, even if your StarSystem is embedded in a Nebula.  To employ this strategy you'll need InkSpots and StarTillery in your fleet.

Order the StarSystem that you want to defend to Auto-Build E2 InkSpots.  Then, position a long range (R8 to R10) StarTillery with 20 Engines adjacent to the InkSpots.  Place the StarTillery on the opposite side from which you expect to be attacked.

E2 InkSpots cost only 1 Resource each so are good candidates for this strategy, although you could also build low-cost Drones.

(An established Bunker Defense)

When enemy StarShips near your StarSystem, your StarTillery will damage and destroy them.  If the enemy brings in their own StarTillery, your low cost InkSpots/Drones will absorb the attack, protecting your valuable StarTillery.

If the enemy reaches your InkSpots, their WarShips will likely waste time moving around the StarSystem destroying the low cost defending ships one by one.  Although, an experienced human opponent, or a very good computer Brain, will know when to turn off Attack Adjacent to prevent this.  Because of this, it's also a good idea to build a few Shields around the StarSystem you're defending.

InkSpots are good for this strategy because enemy StarShips that happen to touch them are tagged, their details are revealed, and they remain visible throughout the rest of the game if they escape your StarTillery barrage.
